Blacksburg to name Slosse as next head football coach

Blacksburg High School will name Eddie Slosse as its new head football coach. He will replace Thad Wells who resigned two months ago to take a job in North Carolina.

Slosse has been an assistant at Blacksburg for a number of seasons before he was named the head coach at Carroll County, an assignment that didn’t work out very well. Slosse says the Blacksburg job is his “dream job,” and can’t wait to get started.

He must first put back together a staff, and determine the direction for the Bruin program. Under Wells, Blacksburg was a spread team based on speed and big plays. Slosse ran the winged-T at Carroll.

Slosse’s task is to keep a program rolling that has won the Class 3 state title in 2016, and advanced to the Class 4 region final in 2017. The Bruins have lost some outstanding players that were key performers from those teams, however, considerable firepower will return at Backsburg this fall.
