County plans linear park in Fairlawn area

The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors on Monday approved changing how a 12-acre strip of land along Hazel Hollow Road and the New River in the Fairlawn area is identified on the Future Land Use Map in the county’s Comprehensive Plan.

Currently identified as Argicultural, the board approved changing the designation of the land to Conservation, so it will align with the anticipated future use of the property as a public park and allow for a Conservation Easement to be placed on the property.

The county’s plan is to use the property as part of a linear park and to preserve the environmental aspects of the property and views of the New River.
