Hokies dismiss Reynolds from team

The Patriot has learned this morning that defensive back Mook Reynolds has been dismissed from the Virginia Tech football team. Head coach Justin Fuente made the announcement earlier today.

No definite reason for the dismissal was given, however Reynolds had already been suspended from the team during spring practice, and is now gone completely. He is the third defensive back the Hokies have lost recently. Adonis Alexander flunked out of the program, and junior college transfer Jeremy Webb suffered an achilles tendon injury during off season workouts. The Hokies have now lost three expected starters in the secondary and will now open the season during Labor Day weekend against Florida State with a secondary almost void of playing experience.

Add to that a depleted linebacker corps that will also start a group with vitually zero playing experience and the back seven of the Tech defense has become a huge question mark. It would appear that long time Hokie defensive coordinator Bud Foster will be facing one of his biggest challenges in 2018 and there will be much pressure on the Tech defensive front to lead the way, especially early in the season.
