Mr. Hensel Cloud Morris Sr., 85, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his home in Dublin, Virginia.
Hensel proudly served in the United States Army, 11th Armored Cavalry stationed in Camp Carson, Colorado where he met his late wife of 58 years Delores Ellen Owens Morris. Together they had and are survived by their six children Hensel Cloud Morris Jr, N. Gail Morgart, Barry Owen Morris, Daniel Stephen Morris, Lynette M. Gibson and Robert Shular Morris.
He was born the second oldest of ten children on November 30, 1931 in Pulaski, Virginia to the late John Shular and Elva Geneva Farmer Morris. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Philip Morris and Morgan Morris and sisters Areta Agee and Gaynell Ratcliffe. Surviving siblings are John Shular Morris Jr, Loretta Pifer, Barbara Hall, Benny Morris, and Norma McPeak.
He was a devout Christian and very strong in his belief in Jesus Christ, witnessing to all who came in contact with him. He had a very strong and close bond to his family. He loved his family tremendously and had a passion for genealogy and family heritage. As a young child he developed a love of music and had vast musical talents. A guitar and fiddle player he wrote over 100 songs in his lifetime, each telling a story of faith, love, hope and kindness. He passed that love of music and talents to all of his children and grandchildren. While he was not one to boast, he was so very proud of his large family of 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 7-9pm at Stevens Funeral Home located at 815 Randolph Ave, Pulaski, VA 24301. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11 am at Dublin Christian Church located at 5605 Dunlap Rd, Dublin, VA 24084. Services will be conducted by his dear friend Cliff McLawhorn and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin with military graveside rites conducted by Pulaski VFW Post 1184. Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
