Opal and Merl Foltz passed away on April 4th, 2017 at their home in Richmond, Virginia.
Opal Hubble Foltz, 79, was a 1955 graduate of Pulaski (Va.) High School, where she excelled as a basketball player. Mrs. Foltz worked for a time at the Virginia Supreme Court in Richmond before joining Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia, where she retired after 35 years.
Merlin D. Foltz, 80, was a 1954 graduate of Central High School in Kalamazoo, MI., and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy in 1958. He had an extensive career for many years in the electronics and early computer-related fields.
“Opal and Merl were loved and highly respected by all who knew them,” said their nephew, Michael (Mike) Hubble of Christiansburg, VA.
“They were sweethearts and best friends and were known for their loving and caring natures to their family and hundreds of friends, as well as for their generous gifts to numerous charities.”
Surviving Mrs. Foltz are one brother, Donald F. “Buck” (Jamie) Hubble, of Pulaski, VA.; one sister, Peggy Hubble (Bob) Massie, of Dublin, VA.; three other nephews in addition to Michael Hubble – Thomas “Tom” Massie of Johnson City, TN., Donald “Don” Massie of Dublin and Robert “R.P.” (Heidi) Hubble of Herndon, VA.; two nieces Vicki Hubble of Pulaski and Donna Hubble Pickett of Vinton, VA; nine great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and friends.
Mrs. Foltz was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Paul) Hubble and Ruth Morefield Hubble.
Mr. Foltz is survived by one sister, Delilah Weece; as well as the Hubble family and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William “Bill” Foltz, of Kalamazoo, MI.

A memorial service will be held Saturday. April 22, 2017 at 12 Noon from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel in Pulaski, VA. Lanny Harris, a close friend of the couple, will officiate the memorial service. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22nd at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Following the memorial service, interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski.
