Verta “Maxine” Stump Turman, age 84 of Pulaski, died Monday, October 16, 2017 in Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born March 15, 1933 in Bluefield, WVa, and was the daughter of the late Mildred Carlisle Stump and Mack Stump. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Christine McPeak, her son, Mark “Kenny” Lundy, and a very special grandmother, Lela Robertson, who was instrumental in raising Maxine. She was a retired switchboard operator for the Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City, FL, and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski. She is survived by two daughters: Vicki Holton and her husband Jerry of Panama City, FL, and Ann Grundstrom and her husband Tom, of Garner, N.C.: one brother: Lee Stump of Las Vegas, NV: Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchild, very special nephews, Richard McPeak and Terry McPeak, and special friend, Beverly Reynolds. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
