VFW Auxiliary Post 1184 will host 25 cent BINGO, Saturday, March 3, 11a.m. – 2 p.m. The Post home is located on the corner of Dora Highway and Washington Ave. Everyone is welcome to play.

“Wise Carvers” to sing at Newbern Church of God

The “Wise Carvers” from Erwin, Tenn, will be ministering in song Sunday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at the Newbern Church of God. This talented group has been nominated for a Dove Award.

Pulaski County Retired Teachers to meet

The Pulaski County Retired Teachers will meet on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Dublin Presbyterian Church, Dublin at 11:30 a.m. for our annual covered

dish luncheon. The program “History of Burke’s Garden” will be presented by Elinor Farmer. All retired school personnel are urged to attend.

 

March 10

Boating Safety Course offered

Boating Safety Course for Operators of Boats and Personal Watercraft will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg. The course is taught by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 83 and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF). Each graduate earns a wallet card showing successful completion of the class. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and recognized by the United States Coast Guard. Materials and instruction are free of charge. Bring a pencil, highlighter, and lunch. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-Registration is required. Special Women’s Ministry Service to be held

Free Western Square Dance lessons offered

Free Western square dance lessons will be offered by the New River Squares on March 12 and March 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.at Memorial Baptist Church, 995 Peppers Ferry Rd. Pulaski, 24301. You can also sign up for a series of classes that officially begin on March 26 and continue for 14 Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Free Renter Education Workshop to be held

A free Renter Education Workshop will be held at the Pulaski County Library on March 13, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and on March 29, 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Workshops are for tenants, landlords, and those considering renting. Topics to be discussed include: Repairs and other common disputes; Fair Housing Laws and Eviction in Virginia; Guide to leases, deposits and payments. To register call 540-980-5525. Sons of Confederate Vets, Stuart Draft Camp to meet

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet on Tuesday, March 13, 7 p.m. at Ray’s Restaurant, Rt. 221, North of Floyd. Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) are also invited to attend. Camp member Dana Jackson will speak on “Local Confederate POWs who chose to go West and participate in the Indian Wars.”If Floyd County Public Schools are closed on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week due to weather, the meeting will be cancelled. Hufford/Mt. Olivet Community Cemetery to hold annual Spring Clean-up

The Hufford/Mt. Olivet Community Cemetery will be having their annual Spring clean up, weather permitting, on March 17 at 9 a.m.. Rain date will be March 24. Trash bags will be provided. All faded, torn, and any Christmas flowers will be removed in order to make the cemetery ready for the mowing season. If you have loved ones buried there, or own plots, please come help clean.  Also, this year, as in the past two years, due to lack of help, the mowing will be hired out. There is the need for donations to pay for this service. Donations can be sent to: Hufford/Mt. Olivet

Max Creek to hold Annual Egg Hunt & Easter Celebration

Max Creek Baptist Church will hold it’s annual Egg Hunt & Easter Celebration on Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m. The event is intended for kids aged 11 and under. This is a FREE event. There will be a minimum of 3,000 plastic eggs hidden around the church grounds in areas separated by age group.  Hunts will be released approximately every 15 minutes until all age groups have gone. All eggs will have candy or a prize ticket inside. There will be a coloring contest with pre-filled Easter Baskets as prizes. There will be an Easter Story presentation. Popcorn, hot dogs, and drinks will be served.

Group sets aside day each month to pray for County

A group of citizens of Pulaski County has set aside the 15th of each month to fast and pray for the county. The group asks that citizens who are of a like mind please join them in their effort.

Solomon’s Closet Clothing Bank

New and used clothing for children and adults. Requested donation of $1 for 10 items. Clothing donations, also accepted and welcome. The Clothing Bank is open the second and third Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 12 noon. New Life Church of the Nazarene is located at 45 S.Jefferson Ave., Pulaski. 

Feeding America

Distribution of fresh produce and baked goods at New Life Church of the Nazarene each Saturday from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (no charge) on a first-come-first-served basis. The church is located 45 S. Jefferson Ave., Pulaski. 

Ruth’s Harvest

Food pantry and boxes prepared for qualified recipients twice monthly. Applications available at the church office. New Life Church of the Nazarene is located at 45 S. Jefferson Ave., Pulaski. 

Adult Day Care and Fall Prevention Center hosts monthly BINGO

Adult Day Service and Fall Prevention Center hosts BINGO on the 4th Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Ruritan building on 4th and Jefferson St in Pulaski. The building is located near Seagle’s Funeral Home. Everyone welcome! 

AmVets Post #50 meets every Friday

AmVets Post #50 meets each Friday from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Dinners sold at post. The post is located at 1018 East Main St., Pulaski. For more information 540-994-6006.

Pulaski Old Time Jamboree

A Bluegrass Jam session for players of all ages is held every Thursday evening 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Pulaski Senior Center. Join the jam by playing an instrument or singing or just come by and enjoy the music. Call Dee Dean at 540-392-3555 for more information. The center is located across the street from the post office.

Cowboy Church new ministry

On the third and fourth week of each month Cowboy Church  offers  food bags to the elderly and shut –ins.  On these weeks, interested participants may come by the church at 12 noon for pick up if able. Delivery is available if necessary. Call Mike and Pat Thompson at 540-577-4923.  Cowboy Church is located at 520 E. Main St., Pulaski (across from Downtown Exxon).

Pulaski Daily Bread in need of volunteers

Daily Bread is in need of servers on several different days, so if you can spare a few hours a week you may contact Debbi Harrell (Director) at 980-2131 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Celebrate Recovery Support group at VHM

Valley Harvest Ministries in Dublin is now sponsoring a support group for people who are working through hurts, habits and hang- ups. The group meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Food will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. with a large group meeting and then everyone will divide into smaller groups at 8 p.m. The church is located at 1 Harvest Place in Dublin.

Narcotics Anonymous

The NA group HOW meets each Sunday 6 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church located at 144 Washington Ave., in Pulaski. The meeting is open to everyone.

N.A. Principles before Personalities
