Single-vehicle crash in Pulaski knocks out pole, power

On Saturday, March 31 at 2:03 pm Officers of the Pulaski Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle accident near the intersection of 5th St. NE and Monroe Ave.

Upon arrival, Officers determined that a Jeep Liberty SUV, which was traveling north towards the intersection of 5th St. NE and Edgehill Dr., had exited the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.  At this time, it is believed that the driver experienced a medical emergency that contributed to the crash.

The pole was destroyed and it collapsed into the road along with numerous electrical lines.  Several areas within the Town are currently without power as a result of this incident and there is no estimate as to when power will be fully restored.   AEP is on scene and has already begun work to repair the damage and restore power.

5th St. NE has been closed between N. Madsion Ave. and Edgehill Dr., along with all sidewalks in this area.  Motorists and pedestrians are asked to please avoid this area for the next 12-24 hours.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
