Tiller steps down at Fort Chiswell

The Patriot has learned that Fort Chiswell High School football coach Todd Tiller resigned Tuesday morning at the school. Tiller will return to his home area in the deep southwest corner of the state and be an assistant coach on the staff of relatively new school, Ridgeview. Both schools are members of Class 2.

Tiller was the head coach of the Pioneers for three seasons, posting an overall record of 16-18. Ridgeview opened its doors three years ago and has posted 6-5, 2-8, and 9-2 records, last season making the playoffs for the first time before losing to Grayson County. Ridgeview is located in Dickenson County, close to the Kentucky border in the town of Clintwood.

Tiller suddenly leaving at this time puts Fort Chiswell in a tight spot as official Virginia High School League football practice begins next Thursday, July 26. The same thing happened to Eastern Montgomery High in Shawsville last week.
