Local traffic encourage to avoid Interstate 81 to lessen congestion
SALEM – An around-the-clock right lane closure on southbound Interstate 81 will impact traffic in Pulaski County between mile markers 105 and 103 for a 42-hour time period in May.
Depending on weather, the anticipated start date for the lane closure will be Sunday, May 7 or Sunday, May 14. The lane will be closed starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday and remain closed continuously until 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
A paving contractor will be working around the clock to excavate deep into the pavement to repair underlying drains, replace base stone and repave.
Before and after the 42-hour right lane closure between mile markers 105 and 103, additional nighttime lane closures for paving on Interstate 81 will be in place at this location in Pulaski County, Sunday through Thursday, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
