Yankees’ bullpen tosses complete game, beat Pirates, 8-2

The Pulaski Yankees’ bullpen shined in holding the Bristol Pirates to two runs in nine innings en route to an 8-2 win on Thursday night at Calfee Park. Daniel Bies made the start for Pulaski and worked the first two innings allowing one run on two hits, and Justin Wilson worked the next three frames to record the win.

In the top of the second inning, the Pirates loaded the bases with one out for Eddy Vizcaino at the dish. A slow chopper to the second basemen Griffin Garabito scored Sherten Apostel on the fielder’s choice to open the scoring. Next inning, Conner Uselton singled to right field to score Mason Martin to double the Pirates’ lead.

Pulaski rallied with a pair of runs in consecutive innings to grab a 4-2 lead in the middle innings. In the fourth, Max Burt scored on a RBI groundout by Carlos Tatis on a 2-2 count to pull Pulaski within one. Later in the frame, Juan De Leon singled to center field with two outs to score Everson Pereira and tie the game.

Next inning, the Yankees extended their lead on a defensive mishap. With runners on second and third base for Terrance Robertson, a grounder hit to the right side of the infield was thrown home by Mason Martin, but not before Garabito scored the go-ahead run. Later in the fifth, Oswald Peraza tallied his first of two RBI singles on the night to give the Yankees a 4-2 cushion.

Peraza again singled in a run in the eighth inning to start a four-run inning. Max Burt followed with a two-run triple and next Mickey Gasper added to the blow out on a RBI single to wrap up the scoring in a 8-2 final. The Yankees improve their record to 10-13 on the season following the victory, and have grabbed two of the first three games in the four-game set against Bristol
