247sports says Willis named Hokies starter; Jackson has broken left leg

247sports.com has reported that Virginia Tech Head Coach Justin Fuente has named junior quarterback Ryan Willis the starting quarterback for the Duke game and moving forward. The 6-foot-4 inch 223-pound player will replace Josh Jackson as the starting quarterback, following his injury that will keep him out indefinitely. The injury has been confirmed as a fractured left fibula.

In Virginia Tech’s loss against Old Dominion, Jackson was injured as he scrambled away from the defense, only to have a defender fall on his leg. The quarterback was carted off to the locker room only to return to the sidelines in a walking boot and crutches. Fuente confirmed his status on Monday during their weekly press conference.
