Griffith Responds to State of the Union Address
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s State of the Union address:
“President Trump gave an encouraging State of the Union address this evening. While there are challenges we face, they can be overcome by joining together to work on solutions.
“He laid out several priorities to improve the safety and prosperity of the American people in general and the people of the Ninth District. In particular, I was glad to hear his focus on lowering the cost of prescription drugs, an effort I have worked on in the House. I was also very encouraged that he is not giving up on efforts to secure our southern border.
“I look forward to continued work with the Administration and my colleagues in Congress on policies that will benefit all Americans.”
STATEMENT OF U.S. SEN. MARK R. WARNER
~ On President Trump’s State of the Union address ~
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) released the following statement on President Trump’s State of the Union address:
“What I had hoped to hear from the President tonight was a plan to make sure our government stays up and running ten days from now, and a willingness to work with Congress to make sure that a shutdown never happens again. Unfortunately, what the American people got was more of the same partisan fear-mongering and one-sided demands. It’s deeply disappointing to the hundreds of thousands of federal workers and contractors across the Commonwealth and the country who are once again bracing for the worst.”
Republican Party of Virginia
With an agenda benefiting Americans throughout Virginia, President Trump has launched our nation to new heights, bringing jobs back to our country like never seen before while also supporting hardworking citizens at home and members of our armed forces serving overseas. His plan for our nation has made our country stronger with an enhanced military, fortified Supreme Court, and a new passion for supporting small businesses and working class families. America is better off thanks to President Trump, and tonight’s address relayed a thorough, comprehensive, and impressive blueprint to continue this success.

Mr. Warner once again bows to his national party lines – not to common sense and not to what is good for the entire state of Virginia as well as our country. Warner could have written his response five days before the President gave his speech – it would have read the same – word for word – just as his party would dictate. Warner clearly represents the liberal core of the Democratic party – not the general populace of Virginia or the United States.
