Obituary for Kenneth Ray Rorrer
November 13, 1936 – May 1, 2022
Kenneth Ray Rorrer, 85, of Pulaski, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2022. Kenneth (“Kenny”) was born in the Claytor Lake area of Pulaski County to the late Earnest Ray Rorrer and Minnie Ellen Dalton Rorrer, both of Pulaski. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jane Hudson Rorrer and brother, Billy Ellis Rorrer of Pulaski.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jane Hudson Rorrer of Pulaski and significant other, Steven E. Blake, II of Christiansburg; and sister Hilda Rorrer Crigger of Dublin, Virginia; close cousin Edward Gregory and wife Betty of Pulaski and several nieces and nephews.
Kenny graduated from Pulaski High School in 1954 and attended National Business College in Salem, Virginia. His first jobs were helping with his family’s business, Rorrer’s Store and driving a bus for Pulaski County Public Schools. He owned the Esso gas station in downtown Pulaski and also worked at Jefferson Mills, the United States Postal Service, American Courier Service and Purolator Courier. Upon leaving Purolator in Baltimore, Maryland, he founded and was CEO of Time Express, Inc., a regional same day and overnight courier company operating in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Kenny also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Upon retiring, he and Peggy returned to Pulaski in 2000.
Kenny was a person who never met a stranger. He was a hard-working, loving husband, who loved gardening, woodworking, and was an avid animal lover.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Medi Home Health & Hospice – Pulaski for their loving care.
A private graveside service will be held at the Thornspring United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Michael A. Pierce of Heritage Church in Dublin, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the charity of your choice.
