Obituary for Sterling “Stubby” Smith Kinser

kinser sterling smithSterling “Stubby” Smith Kinser, age 82 of Pulaski passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 3, 2022.

Born October 8, 1940 in Pulaski he was the son of the late Elbert E. Kinser and Ruby Pauline Lewis Kinser. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jane Kinser, brother, Elbert E. Kinser, Jr. “June Bug” and sisters, Patsy Pagan and Lily Jean Kinser.

Stubby retired a Captain from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office with over 40 years of dedicated service. He also had over 30 years of service with the Pulaski County Fire Department. He was a lifelong member of the Pulaski Church of God and attended the Warriors for Christ Church.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM – Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the Pulaski Church of God with Pastor Donald Jones and Rev. Mike Honaker officiating. A private family interment will be on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Thornspring UMC Cemetery, Pulaski.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Church before service time.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Stubby’s memory be made to the “Caregivers” @ Pulaski Church of God (1621 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski, VA 24301).
