Obituary for Aaron “Kenneth” Pennington

bower FHAaron “Kenneth” Pennington of Dublin, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the age of 88. Born January 31, 1934 in Lovern, West Virginia he was the son of the late Aaron and Bessie Pennington. His loving wife Evelyn Pennington, four brothers, four sisters and his grandson Andy Hoosier also preceded him in death.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Susan Pennington of Dublin, VA, Mary Taylor (Scott Mabry) of Dublin, VA and Tina (Wayne) Hoosier of Radford, VA; grandchildren Wesley (Sarah) Taylor of Pulaski, VA, Jenna (Ethan) Edwards of Enon, OH and Becky Pennington of Pulaski, VA; great-grandchildren Peyton and Sadie Taylor, Kamiyah Hill, Zyhire Porter and Evelyn Edwards; siblings Dixie Garvin of Johnson City, TN, Lois Simmerman of Barren Springs, VA, Geraldine Roe of Kingsport, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.

Everyone who knew Kenneth felt his big heart and giving nature. He was involved in the Dublin Christmas Baskets for over forty years, helping those underserved in his community to celebrate with food and gifts for their families. He loved Christmas and all holidays spent with his family, and his home was known as the place everyone loved to gather.

Kenneth proudly served twenty-two years in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military service, he was employed with the fire department. Kenneth was also an Elder at the First Dublin Presbyterian Church and retired from employment with the Town of Dublin.

Kenneth was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Though wishful for more Earthly time with him, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has finally been reunited with his wife, Evelyn, and know that they are celebrating together.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM – Monday, November 14, 2022 at the First Dublin Presbyterian Church (409 Church Street, Dublin) with Pastor Mary Ann Armbrister officiating. Interment will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin where he will receive full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour before service time Monday at the church.
