Obituary for Jean Elizabeth Kirby Plott

Jean Elizabeth Kirby Plott passed away June 19, 2023, at the Carilion New River Valley Hospital.  Born on August 22, 1927, in Draper, Virginia, she was the daughter of Duval A. and Maude Allison Kirby.  She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph M. Plott, sister, Helen K. Kelley, and nephew, John D. Kelley.  She is survived by nieces Lisa P. Cooley, Powhatan, Martha K. Biggar, Draper, and Elizabeth K. Whitman, Pulaski, and a nephew, Joseph N. Kelley, Draper.

 

Jean was a nurse, first in Roanoke and then in Richmond, where she met her husband, Ralph.  They loved to camp and traveled around the United States and Canada with the Telephone Pioneers of America, many of whom remain fast friends.  Jean spent the last several years of her life at Commonwealth Senior Living in Fairlawn, where she made many sweet friends.  She had a long and full life and will be missed.

Interment will be private. However, a memorial service and celebration of Jean’s life will be held at the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 2:00 in the afternoon. A second memorial service will be held at Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia at a later date.
