Annual Newbern Fall Festival returns Oct. 14-15
From Pulaski County
On Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15, Newbern Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD) will host its annual Newbern Fall Festival. The festival covers a one-mile stretch of Historic Newbern along Wilderness Road in Pulaski County.
This year’s festival boasts 150 food, craft, and boutique vendors. There will also be live music and historical demonstrations taking place at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum throughout the day.
On Saturday, attendees will have the opportunity to catch the Pulaski County Transit to ride through the Festival. The Newbern Fire Department will be open and available for festival attendees to tour and see the trucks and equipment.
The nearly 50-year-old festival is a fundraiser for the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD). On Saturday, festival goers can find NVFD members at the Fire Department selling their famous ham biscuits and raffle tickets for several opportunity drawings. Members will also be parking cars for donations to the department. The department typically raises between $9,000 and $12,000.
These funds allow the all-volunteer department to update equipment on a regular basis. Brandon Hamblin, NVFD Chief, says “The Newbern Fall Festival has provided years of heritage, quality arts and crafts vendors, as well as great food and fellowship to our community. This festival has become a family tradition for our department members as well as community members. It is also a true financial asset to our volunteer fire department.”
“The Newbern Fall Festival has become a staple Fall event for Pulaski County. Each year the event seems to get bigger and better. From the delicious local food vendors and talented arts and craft vendors to the colorful changing leaves through the town, this event truly shines a light on Pulaski County’s culture and beauty,” says Erika Tolbert, Pulaski County Tourism Director. “We look forward each year to welcoming our local community and guests from across the area to this stand-out festival!”
