Brown out as PCHS hoops coach
By RODNEY YOUNG
For The Patriot
The Patriot and RodneySportsNow.com have learned that Pulaski County Head Coach Daniel Brown has been relieved of his basketball coaching duties.
Brown was hired in mid-June to lead the boy’s basketball program. Four months later, the Cougars are without a head coach and the start of official practice is just around the corner.
Junior varsity head coach Rajai Hines has reportedly been carrying out much of the duties of the head coach during the summer, such as informing players of when and where open gyms were being held.
The Cougars’ first action is slated for November 16 with a scrimmage at Lord Botetourt High School.

I would love to know the reason why this took place is it something the school did, because I don’t want to say, but pulaski county high school has changed since 1975, when you let the players play and the parents sit there butts at home or in the bleachers,I might be wrong saying this but I hope that this didn’t come about because of the way coaches coach, when I played basketball for pulaski high and county I was blessed to be coached by 4 different coaches and out of all those 4none were black head coaches, but I had the privileged my senior year to be coached by a black coach and his name was ARTHUR JOHNSON, but I hope you and your paper will tell us the black community what matters took place.

The WHY is in the newspaper article. JV coach Hines was doing everything. If Brown showed up, he was always late. Several player’s said he didn’t know their names even last week. Lot’s more that that wasn’t happening. PCHS officials had to let him go even with only 6 weeks until 1st game. Several Varsity players were going to quit —– Ask them—— I did. Ask JV coach Hines too.

Coach Johnson was an amazing person and strong influence on my life. The coaching staff at that time all were great leaders as well as coaches, Head Coach Allen Wiley, Coach Arthur Johnson, and Coach Mickey Hickman. I was very fortunate to have all three men as mentors in my teenage life. Wish PCHS could find coaches like these fine men today.

All old Ex Coaches mentioned so far currently of no use in modern Era. This Era a coach has many new unnecessary things to deal with….and team FANS disguised as Haters. Why would any one want this job???? Get together and support the PCHS Cougars, Encourage others to come out and get involved on JV and Varsity Teams.
