Cougars beat Abingdon, 61-59

Sometimes you win pretty, sometimes you win ugly. The latter was true Wednesday night as Pulaski County defeated the Abingdon Falcons, 61-59 in the Cougar Den.
The Cougars got conservative on offense in the second half, and it almost cost them. They finished with 13 threes for the game after hitting 10 in the first half.
With the Cougars up 61-59 with seven seconds to go, Abingdon in-bounded the ball under their basket.
Adam Pomrenke drove down the right side of lane and shot a jumper at point-blank range. The ball hit the rim and bounced off and another Falcon rebounded and also put up a point-blank shot. The ball rolled off and got tipped up in the air.
With a second left, Cougar senior Marcus Reed caught the ball going out of bounds and threw it straight up in the air as the horn sounded.
The Cougars (2-1) had won their second game in a row.
Justus Hash and Tootie O’Dell both had 14 points on the night, while Chandler Hollins added 12 and Lane Nester eight.
Abingdon was led by 6-9 Reece Ketron with a game-high 24 points.
Cougar head coach Anthony Akers said afterwards, “It turned into an ugly win, for a game that shouldn’t have been ugly. This is a learning experience for us all. The bottom line is it’s a win.”
