Juanita (Hall) Hughes

Juanita (Hall) Hughes, age 92 of Mocksville, North Carolina departed this world on December 22, 2023. Juanita was born on July 6, 1931, in Hillsville, Virginia.  She was the daughter of the late John Lewis Hall and Erna Dora Midkiff.

In addition to her mother and father, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Harry J. Hughes, two brothers Gerald Hall and WJ Hall, and a sister Shirley Schen.

In life, Juanita graduated from Hillsville High School. Later, she chose a career in nursing before being a housewife and a mom where she raised her children and cared for her family.  Some of Juanita’s favorite pastimes included reading her bible, crocheting, and word search puzzles.

Juanita leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son Barry C. Hughes (Patricia) of Christiansburg, VA, three daughters Bonnie Burgess, Debbie Palmer, and Janet Ward, all of Mocksville, a sister Imogene Jenkins of Mt. Airy, NC, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two very special people to her heart was Ronnie and Cindy Quate (granddaughter and spouse).

On February 24, 2024, a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held in Dublin, VA at Community Christian Church beginning at 12:00 pm, with a potluck lunch to follow.  Juanita will be laid to rest in Highland Memorial Gardens.
