Pioneers take road win at Giles

Fort Chiswell Varsity Boys traveled to Giles County on Thursday to take on the Spartans and came out with a 68-44 decision. The Spartans kept it close until the end of the first quarter when the Pioneers went on a 10-2 run and had the contest in-hand at the half leading 43-26.

Owen Jackson led the Pioneers in scoring with 27 followed by Kenton Sutphin who tossed in 11, Ty Crockett tallied 8, Jessie Ayers added 7, and Caleb Brown got five in the win. Mason Cirba and Landon Eversole sank threes while Eli Eversole and Cade Mcpherson each scored 2 points a piece for the Fort.

The (8-5) Pioneers were 9 for 26 from behind the arc, blocked six shots, and had 18 steals as a team in the victory. FC will host Galax tonight at the Fort.
