Seven PCHS swimmers turn in best times of season
After a month of practice, the PCHS Swim Team returned to the competition pool this past Tuesday January 20th. All the practice paid off with 7 swimmers receiving their best times of the season!Leading the way for the girls was Ellie Speed who placed 3rd in the 50 Freestyle (28.44) and Josie Hamblin placed 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke (1:32.16). Ellie also finished 4th in the 100 Freestyle (1:03.54). Kaylin Keiper and Valentina Villanueva Solorzano clocked their best times this season in 50 Freestyle. The girls freestyle relay team (Ellie Speed , Charlie Hamblin, Eden Bowman, Josie Hamblin) finished 4th (2:07:91).
Leading the charge for the boys was Matthias Wright who placed 6th in the 100 Freestyle (1:10.57) and 6th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:30.78). Kade Quesenberry placed 7th in the 50 Freestyle (29.12). Isaiah Kilbourne and Camden Matney had their best times of the season in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle. Daniel Moncure clocked his best time in the 50 Freestyle. The boys freestyle relay team (Kade Quesenberry, Isaiah Kilbourne, Daniel Moncure, Matthias Wright) finished 3rd (2:00.34).
The team dropped a total of 28.24 seconds!
The next meets are scheduled for January 27th and February 3rd at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center! Meets are free to attend, so come ready to cheer!
