River Turtles lose on the road in Burlington

The Burlington Sock Puppets scored 11 runs in three innings and hammered the visiting Pulaski River Turtles on Monday, 11-5.

The win gives Burlington a 4-0 start on the season, while the Turtles dropped to 1-3.

Pulaski had seven hits in the game and was led by second baseman John Michael Szefc whose third inning home run drew the River Turtles to within one of Burlington at 4-3.

Szefc had two hits and two RBI on the night.  Catcher Easton Masse added two hits and was walked twice. He scored twice.

Ryan King started the game for Pulaski on the mound, going three innings and allowing only one hit. Gaige Albright relieved and got the loss, going 1.1 innings allowing five hits and seven runs – all earned.

Attendance for the game was reported at 2,998.

The two teams square off again on Tuesday.  After an off day Wednesday, Pulaski travels for a two-game set at Greeneville.

The River Turtles return home on Saturday to face Greeneville again with game time at 7 p.m.

The two teams play again on Sunday with game time at 5:30 p.m.
