Belle Hampton Legacy Center Seeks Nominations for Multi-Generational Businesses in Southwestern Virginia
Are You a Legacy Business? Share Your Story as Part of the Red, White and You Celebration
DUBLIN, VA – Belle Hampton Legacy Center is inviting nominations and submissions from businesses across Southwestern Virginia that have operated for multiple generations. The initiative is part of the Legacy Center’s mission to preserve and celebrate the families, enterprises, and local stories that have shaped the region’s history, economy, and community life.
Family businesses have long served as the backbone of Southwestern Virginia. From farms, stores, trades, restaurants, and manufacturers to banks, professional services, and community institutions, these enterprises represent more than commerce. They reflect perseverance, stewardship, innovation, and a commitment to carrying work and values from one generation to the next.
“Are you a legacy business?” is the question Belle Hampton Legacy Center is asking business owners, families, employees, and community members throughout the region. Businesses may nominate themselves, or community members may nominate a business they believe deserves recognition.
Selected stories may be featured through Belle Hampton Legacy Center exhibits, digital storytelling, publications, educational programs, and special recognition connected to the upcoming Red, White and You event. This community celebration will honor history, enterprise, patriotism, and the enduring contributions of families and businesses in Southwestern Virginia.
The Center is especially interested in hearing from businesses that can share their founding year, founder’s name, number of generations involved, family story, photographs, and the ways the business has contributed to the region.
