PCHS Golf Team Opens Season with Strong Second-Place Finish

The Pulaski County High School golf team opened the 2026 season with an impressive performance, earning a second-place finish at the Woodford Classic Golf Tournament held at Wytheville Country Club.

Competing against a talented field of 17 teams, the Cougars demonstrated both depth and consistency as every member of the scoring lineup posted a round in the 70s. Leading the way were Will Rackaway and Boone Blevins, who each fired an outstanding 73. They were joined by Evan Singleton, Conner Whitaker, and Cayden Mines, all of whom also carded rounds in the 70s to help secure the runner-up finish.

The balanced team effort is an encouraging start for a Cougar squad that returns a strong core of experienced golfers and figures to be a contender throughout the season.

Pulaski County returns to action on Monday when the Cougars travel to Roanoke Country Club for the first River Ridge District match of the season. After an impressive opening tournament, the team will look to carry that momentum into district competition.
