Cougar cross country competes at Knights Crossing XC Invitational

SALEM — Pulaski County’s girls finished 19th in the Black Division, while the Cougar boys turned in several strong individual performances Saturday at the Knights Crossing XC Invitational at Green Hill Park.

The large-field meet brought together teams from across the region and gave Pulaski County another opportunity to test itself against deep competition.

Sophomore Nina Bucey-Card paced the Pulaski County girls with a PR of 21:48.5, finishing 28th overall. Senior Dani Carroll followed in 22:56.3, while freshman Brianna Farmer also recorded a PR, finishing in 23:17.3.

Freshman Katina Caldera and sophomore Kaylin Keiper both completed their first cross country race, rounding out the team score and helping the Cougar girls finish 19th in the Black Division.out of 45 teams running that race.

On the boys’ side, sophomore Cecil Black led the Cougars with a PR of 18:27.5, with senior Jonah Morgan close behind in 18:44.3.

Sophomore Xander Sargent added another PR for Pulaski County, running 21:34.9, while sophomore Mason Hayes completed the Cougars’ four-runner group. With four finishers, Pulaski County was one runner shy of an official team score.

The meet marked another positive step for the Cougars midway through the season, highlighted by PRs from Bucey-Card, Farmer, Black and Sargent, along with Caldera and Keiper completing their first cross country races.
