Council Interviews Finalists for Vacant Seat

The Pulaski Town Council met in a special called session Tuesday evening to interview finalists for filling the vacant seat on Council.

After the meeting was called to order, Town Manager Todd Day said that Council had the opportunity to evaluate submissions by applicants and had selected for final interviews Jill D. Niece and Anthony Blair Smith.

Council will conduct one interview in person while the other would take place through an on-line interview. He said that an announcement would not be made concerning selection of a candidate Tuesday evening, but would be made at the next regular Council meeting on October 6, 2026.

Following these remarks, Council went into closed session under Va. Code 2.2-3711 (a1) for a personnel matter regarding an appointment to fill a vacant Council seat. Discussion with the applicants was held in a closed session as permitted for personnel matters by the Virginia State Code and for concerns under privacy laws concerning release of personal information.

Council returned from Closed Session and approved a certification motion for the session and adjourned at 6:30 pm.
