Albemarle County man faces charges after Wednesday chase

An Albemarle County man faces multiple charges from Virginia State Police and the Galax Police Department following a pursuit Wednesday afternoon (May 4, 2022).

The incident began shortly before 12:41 p.m. when the Galax Police Department initiated a pursuit of a BMW sedan. As the pursuit continued through Carroll County, Virginia State Police troopers responded to assist Galax Police with the pursuit. Once the BMW entered into Grayson County, state police were able to contain it and bring it to a stop at Old Baywood Rd. and Grammer Lane.

The driver, Eric Frazier, 29, of Earlysville, Va., was taken into custody. He was treated and released from a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

State police arrested Frazier for DUI-2nd offense; one felony count of possession of a Schedule II drug with intent to distribute; one felony count of eluding police; one count of driving on a revoked license – DUI related; reckless driving; and using a cellular phone while driving. He is being held at New River Valley Regional Jail.
