Fairlawn “KIDS” Community Reunion to be held

There will be a Fairlawn Community Reunion on October 5, 2019 at the old Riverlawn Elementary school in Fairlawn, Va. If you grew up in the Fairlawn area in the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s and would like to be a part of the reunion please join us on October 5 at 10 a.m. If you have pictures, stories, or artifacts about the Fairlawn area, please come and share these with everyone. We especially need copies of the early years of Fairlawn to be displayed for everyone to see. Price for the reunion is $30 per person(non-refundable as all monies for no shows will be donated to the Old Riverlawn School renovation project which will become a Community Center. The cost includes the meal and expenses which will be incurred in planning this affair.

 

Abundant Life Ministries to host FREE Festival

Abundant Life Ministries Church will be having a special Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Everything is FREE! There will be hot dogs, popcorn, drinks ,car wash, inflatables, games for children, hay rides, face painting, manicures haircuts and health checks. There will be special music through the day. Pastor Randall Lawrence and the congregation give the public and their families a special invitation to join them for this special day of fun, food fellowship. VFW Auxiliary Post 1184 to host 25¢ BINGO

VFW Aux. Post 1184 will host 25¢ BINGO on Saturday, Oct. 5, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Post home located on the corner of Dora Highway and Washington Ave., Pulaski. Everyone welcome!

Dora Highway Baptist to hold revival featuring Chalk Art Evangelist Haynes

Chalk Art Evangelist Dwight Haynes will be speaking at Dora Highway Baptist Church Revival beginning Sunday, October 6 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services.  The revival will continue October 7-9, Monday-Wednesday 7 p.m. nightly.

NRV Antique Tractor Club to hold Fall tractor pull

The NRV Antique Tractor Club will have a Fall tractor pull on Saturday, October 12 at the Ruritan National grounds in Newbern beginning at 11 a.m. with 14 weight classes.  Fun for all. Contact Randy at 674-5670 for more information.

First Dublin Presbyterian Church to host Craft Fair

First Dublin Presbyterian Church will host a craft fair October 18 (Friday) from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.. and October 19 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. -5 p.m.. The lunch menu for the fair includes: BBQ sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, $3.50 and Hot dog with chili, baked beans, chips $3.50, WITHOUT CHILI, $3.00. Individual items include: Hot dog – plain – $1.50, Chili dog – $2, BBQ sandwich $2, Fried apple pies $1, Drinks – any kind – $1. Bake sale items will vary in price – cakes, cookies, breads, etc.

Gospel Jubilee to be held at First Baptist Church

A Gospel Jubilee will be held at First Baptist Church on October 19, 4 p.m. in support of Men and Women’s Day. Various church groups and singers from the New River Valley and Roanoke area will be participating. The church congregation  asks everyone to join them for a Saturday evening of praise. The church is located at 220 Magazine St., Pulaski.

 

Renfro Employee Reunion planned

The Renfro Employee Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2 p.m.  at Wendy’s Fast Food Restaurant in Pulaski.

Celebration planned at First Baptist Church

In celebration of Men and Women’s Day at First Baptist Church, Evangelist Wilma Thomas of Lynch, Kentucky will be the guest speaker on Sunday, October 20, 11 a.m. worship service. The musical guest is the  group Common Ground from Midway Baptist Church in Galax. First Baptist is located at 220 Magazine St., Pulaski. Everyone is welcome.

Boating Safety Course for Operators of Boats and Personal Watercraft to meet

Boating Safety Course for Operators of Boats and Personal Watercraft will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg. The course is taught by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 83 and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF). Each graduate earns a wallet card showing successful completion of the class. Most major insurance companies endorse the course and allow insurance premium discounts to graduates. All PWC and motorboat operators need to take a boating safety course. Materials and instruction are free of charge. Bring a pencil, highlighter, and lunch. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-Registration is required. WOTM (Women of the Moose) host monthly quarter BINGO

Monthly WOTM Bingo is held the second Saturday of every month at the Pulaski Moose Lodge, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.  There are awesome door prizes, FREE coffee, WOTM donation updates, pull tabs, raffles and much more. Come out and play some quarter Bingo with your Women of the Moose. $10 Buy-in: You play unlimited amount of cards.

Group sets aside day each month to pray for County

A group of citizens of Pulaski County has set aside the 15th of each month to fast and pray for the county. The group asks that citizens who are of a like mind please join them in this effort.

 

Feeding America

Distribution of fresh produce and baked goods at New Life Church of the Nazarene each Saturday from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (no charge) on a first-come-first-served basis. The church is located 45 S. Jefferson Ave., Pulaski.

 

Adult Day Care and Fall Prevention Center hosts monthly BINGO

Adult Day Service and Fall Prevention Center hosts BINGO on the 4th Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Ruritan building on 4th and Jefferson St in Pulaski. The building is located near Seagles Funeral Home. Everyone welcome!

 

Pulaski Old Time Jamboree

A Bluegrass Jam session for players of all ages is held every Thursday evening 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Historic Pulaski Train Depot. Cowboy Church ministry offers food bags to the elderly and shut-in

On the third and fourth week of each month Cowboy Church  offers  food bags to the elderly and shut -in.  On these weeks, interested participants may come by the church at 12 noon for pick up if able. Pulaski Daily Bread in need of volunteers

Daily Bread is in need of servers on several different days, so if you can spare a few hours a week you may contact Debbi Harrell (Director) at 980-2131 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

 

Celebrate Recovery Support group at VHM

Valley Harvest Ministries in Dublin is now sponsoring a support group for people who are working through hurts, habits and hang- ups. The group meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Food will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. with a large group meeting and then everyone will divide into smaller groups at 8 p.m. The church is located at 1 Harvest Place in Dublin.

The NA group HOW meets each Sunday 6 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church located at 144 Washington Ave., in Pulaski. The meeting is open to everyone.
