Bristol is now home to a new Construction Trades School
The Virginia Construction Trades Academy (VCTA) is an exciting new school in Bristol, Virginia that provides hands-on-training in the construction trades. The new trades school offers nine (9) construction trades for the Tri-Cities.
The programs are designed as full-time, 40 hours per week for 16 weeks with real-world, hands-on education. As a part of the programs, there will be a two-week internship with a local contractor.
The initial list of programs include:
- Masonry
- Carpentry
- Drywall
- Plumbing
- Painting
- Concrete
- Tile
- Electrical
- Welding
The campus is located on ten (10) acres at Rhode Island Ave., Bristol, Virginia. There are two primary buildings (approximately 33,000 SF) that will be used as instructional space and to house administrative and faculty offices. Additionally, there is a 90,000 SF concrete slab that will be used for student projects and parking.
VCTA is approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) to operate in the state of Virginia.
Additionally, the plumbing and electrical programs have been approved by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupation Regulation (DPOR).
Virginia Construction Trades Academy is accepting student applications now with classes projected to start this Fall 2026. Financing options are available for qualified students.
