Burlington Sock Puppets Drops Game To Pulaski River Turtles After Late Score

Burlington Sock Puppets lost the lead late in a 5-2 defeat to Pulaski River Turtles on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with Pulaski River Turtles batting in the top of the eighth when Evan Minarovic doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Burlington Sock Puppets fired up the offense in the second inning. Nick Winkelmeyer singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the seventh inning, Pulaski River Turtles tied things up at one when Cameron Leary hit a solo homer.

After Pulaski River Turtles scored one run in the top of the ninth, Burlington Sock Puppets answered with one of their own. Pulaski River Turtles scored when John Bay hit a solo homer. Burlington Sock Puppets then answered when Mason Speaker doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Joan Jesus Gonzalez pitched Pulaski River Turtles to victory. The righthander allowed five hits and one run over six innings, striking out 11. Dalton Ross and Carter Lyles entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Connor Butler took the loss for Burlington Sock Puppets. The pitcher surrendered three runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning.

Brady Huddlestun started the game for Burlington Sock Puppets. The righthander lasted four innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five
