Charles Ed “Sam” Lovern

Charles Ed “Sam” Lovern, 89, formerly of Bland, VA, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Heritage Hall – Rich Creek. He was born July 22, 1937 in Pulaski, VA, the son of the late Robert & Jessie Lovern.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (“Bob”) & Jessie Lyons Lovern, his wife of 54 years, Claudine (“Mickey”) Carver Lovern, his siblings, Oakey, Robert, Jr. & Margaret and a step-daughter.

Left to cherish his memory are his two brothers & sisters-in-law, Ralph (“Jim”) & Lisa Lovern, Mechanicsburg, PA and Gene & Maria Lovern, Colorado Springs, CO; his sister, Juanita Burnette, Roanoke, VA; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; 6 step-children; 13 step-grandchildren, numerous step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Pastor Timmy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Newbern. Military rites will be provided by the Virgini Honor Guard and the Bland American Legion Post# 20.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until service time, 1:00 P.M.
