Cougar E J. Horton commits to Kent State

Pulaski County High School’s E.J. Horton has committed to play college football for Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. As a junior, the 6-0, 170 wide receiver caught 41 passes for 827 yards, and 10 touchdowns for the Cougars, and also ran for another.

Horton becomes the fifth Pulaski County football player to play in the Mid-American Conference. He was preceded by Brandon Anderson at Akron, Charlie Bryant at Ohio,  Branden Hazzard, also at Kent State, and Ernie Hodge also at Ohio.

The Golden Flashes are under the guidance of first year head coach Sean Lewis who took the Kent State job after coaching stints at Syracuse and Bowling Green. Lewis played college football for the Badgers of Wisconsin. The Flashes finished 2-10 in 2017.

Other universities that are members of the Mid-American Conference are; Buffalo, Toledo, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Akron. Also, former record setting field goal kicker at Pulaski County, Shayne Graham was the special teams coach at Central Michigan last season. Horton is considered one of the top returning players in the River Ridge District for 2018 and in Class 4, Region D.
