Cougar girls fall to 2-3
Pulaski County’s girls basketball team could not get stops down the stretch and were outscored at home Saturday afternoon, 81-72 by Abingdon. The loss dropped the Cougars to 2-3 on the season.
The game was up for grabs heading into the fourth quarter, but the Falcons scored 29 big points. Peyton Carter led the way for Abingdon with a team and game high 26 points. She got plenty of help from Cathy Farley with 16.
One good sign for the Cougar girls was the fulltime return of inside player Ally Fleenor now apparently totally recovered from a knee injury. Fleener led the Cougars with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Guards Maddie Ratcliff and Paige Huff both scored 16, but scoring wasn’t the problem, stopping Abingdon from scoring was.
