Cougar golfers continue strong start

Pulaski County’s golf team has started their 2026 season off with a bang. After finishing 2nd last week in the 18-team Woodford Classic, the Cougars traveled to Roanoke Country Club for the first River Ridge District match and finished tied with Blacksburg for first place honors with a team score of 297.
Cougar junior Evan Singleton placed 2nd out of 42 golfers with a 71 and junior Will Rackaway was 3rd with a 72. Senior Boone Blevins placed 8th with a 75 and Connor Whitaker shot a 79 to round out the scoring. Jack Skinner from Blacksburg shot a sizzling 64 to take home medalist honors.
Coach Mark Hanks, “to go to a tough course like Roanoke CC and shoot the numbers we shot was super impressive. Most of the top players in our district play there as a home course, so it was very gratifying to see our kids’ hard work pay off! The region is ver strong with Cave and Hidden Valley at the top, so good to see us beat them!”
