Cougar swimmers open season at SWVA High School Invitational
The Cougar Swim Team started their competitions this past Saturday, December 13th at the SWVA High School Invitational. The boys and girls competed with students from 19 other schools and brought home several ribbons. Highlights include:
– Elenore Speed placed 8th in the 50 freestyle (28.71) and 100 freestyle (1:04.53)
– The girls 200 freestyle relay placed 10th with Elenore Speed, Josie Hamblin, Charlie Hamblin and Eden Bowman (2:09.64)
– The boys 200 freestyle relay placed 15th with Isaiah Kilbourne, Daniel Moncure, Camden Matney and Matthias Wright (2:17.43)
– Josie Hamblin placed 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.47)
-Charlie Hamblin placed 16th in the 50 freestyle (29.92)
The team continued their season on Tuesday, December 16th with several great races.
– Elenore Speed, Josie Hamblin and Charlie Hamblin had a 1, 2 , 3 finish in the 50 freestyle (28.71, 29.66, 29.92)
– Elenore Speed placed 3rd in the 200 Individual Medley (2:49.08)
– Josie Hamblin and Charlie Hamblin placed 3rd and 4th in the 100 breaststroke (1:33.32, 1:36.91)
The Cougars will continue their season January 20th at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center at 6:30. Swim meets are free so come cheer them on!

The Sw Va invitational was not free. It cost $10 /person to get in.
