County hires new finance director

Pulaski County logo~ Patricia Cox to become Pulaski County’s next Director of Finance ~ 

PULASKI COUNTY, VA – December 21, 2023, Pulaski County is pleased to announce the hiring of Patricia Cox as its new Director of Finance.

Cox has a strong background in finance leadership. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Clemson University and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 2000. She has worked in the New River Valley as Director of Finance for New River Community Action, Inc. and as the Director of Finance and Human Resources for the City of Radford. Since 2018, Cox has served as Senior Director of Finance for New River Valley Community Services.

“We are thrilled to officially welcome Patricia Cox to the Pulaski County team as our new Director of Finance. Patricia is a CPA and has over 25 years of relevant financial management experience in the public sector that makes her the perfect pickup to smoothly and quickly transition into this key role within County Administration,” said Jonathan D. Sweet, County Administrator. “Beyond her education and employment experience, she is highly motivated, engaged and committed to serving Pulaski County, and I trust she is going to help us continue to soundly and responsibly manage the County’s finances, and will be a big part of our community advancement efforts.”

Cox will take leadership of the Pulaski County Finance Department in January upon the retirement of the current Director of Finance, Diane Newby.
