Couple arrested and charged with B&E, variety of other crimes
On Tuesday, Nov. 24 at around 6:30 am Deputy Bruce with Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office observed a suspicious vehicle at the old Newbern Elementary School on Lyons Rd.

Due to past trespassing incidents Deputy Bruce stopped the vehicle and identified the occupants as Brandy James of Christiansburg and Daniel Poff of Pulaski.
While the investigation continued, Officer Spicer of Dublin Police Department responded with K-9 Lex to perform an open air sniff for the odor of narcotics around the vehicle. After receiving a positive alert, the vehicle was searched by Deputy Bruce.
Bruce located methamphetamine in the vehicle along with a crowbar, bolt cutters, around 2,500 rounds of ammunition and a large amount of hunting equipment that still contained price tags.
Investigating further Deputy Bruce discovered that the ammunition and hunting equipment had been stolen after James and Poff had broken into Bryson’s store in Draper a few hours prior to the stop.

James and Poff were both arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering with the intent to commit a felony, Possession of Burglary Tools, Grand Larceny, Felony Possession of Controlled Substance, Trespassing and Destruction of Property.
James and Poff were held without bond at New River Valley Regional Jail.

20 years?? They didn’t kill anyone..not that I support theft/larceny, because I certainly don’t…but these may be two very different people less the influence of drugs and the bondage addiction holds, especially over our younger generation, and think recovery, rehabilitation, AND (LESS)incarceration deem more appropriate and beneficial. Just my opinion..have a wonderful holiday!!
