Domestic situation ends in malicious wounding arrest
On April 17, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Wilderness Road in reference to a domestic situation, where the caller reporting the incident stated that his father had shot him.
Once Deputies arrived on scene, contact was made with Daniel Lee Gibas, who told deputies that his father had shot him. Daniel had a gunshot wound to his arm and was assisted away from the immediate area in order to receive medical aid.

Dennis Mark Gibas, the father of Daniel, was inside the residence and would not come out.
A Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office negotiator was able to convince Dennis to surrender without further incident.
He was placed under arrest and then transported to the magistrate at the New River Valley Regional Jail where warrants were obtained and served against Dennis Gibas for malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a dwelling house. Dennis was held without bond.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
Sheriff Worrell would like to thank Dublin Police Department, Virginia State Police, Pulaski County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, and Pulaski County Public Safety for their assistance during this incident.
