Barbara Charlene Coe Doss, 69, Dublin,Va., left this life and transitioned into heaven on Friday afternoon, September 15, 2023 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Charlene (Cha Cha to those close to her) was born April 1, 1954 in Abingdon,Va., to the late Charles and Bracel Coe and grew up in the Delton area of Draper, Va.  A graduate of Dublin High School, class of 1972, she received her B.S. degree in education from Radford University in 1979.  Charlene taught at Newbern, Draper, and Claremont Elementary schools.  She obtained a Master’s degree in Guidance from Va. Tech in 1989, and later became a guidance counselor at Northwood, Draper,  Pulaski Elementary, and Snowville Elementary schools until her retirement.

Charlene had the gift of touching people’s lives with her calm, caring, patient love.  Many children in this county came to visit, went to events, were given needs and love, and communicated with her through the years.  This was Charlene’s legacy.  She loved life to the fullest until her health prevented her from doing what she loved.

Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Gary Doss.  She is also survived by two sisters, Marsha (Herb) Gerhart, Lynchburg, Va., Judy (Bud) Gannaway, Vinton, Ohio.  A special nephew, Lieutenant Colonel James Warf USAF (ret.) and his sons, James IV, Brandon, and Colton of Carrollton, Va. Also, a niece and nephew, Allison (Steven) Gannaway Barnett and their sons Cooper and Case of Reedsville, Ohio, and Jake (Andrea) Gannaway and their son, Ethan of Bidwell, Ohio.  Her “bestest” friend, Barbara Cain, Elizabeth (Dido) Houston, Derek Nowlin, who was like a son, Fred Gravley, and her Va. daughter, Sharon Woinski.  Also a sincere thank you to all of the loving support of her Oakview neighborhood.

We welcome all of those who were touched by Charlene’s light to come and join us for a celebration of her life at 11am on Saturday, September 23rd at the First United Methodist Church at 301 Jefferson Ave N, Pulaski, VA, officiated by Reverend Don Shelor. Family will be receiving guests following the celebration in the parlor.

Charlene’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Backpack Feed the Lambs ministry for area children.  Donations can be made to Jordan Chapel Church PO Box 1626 Pulaski, VA 24301 or Dublin United Methodist Church 424 E. Main St, Dublin, VA 24084.

Cha Cha’s light lives on in each life she touched, and we have already felt our angel’s presence.  Arrangements by Seagle Funeral Home, Pulaski. www.seaglefuneralhome.com  540-980-1700
