Downtown Organization Announces Small Business Week Plans for May 5-11

Pulaski On Main is sponsoring a week of educational opportunities and activities for this year’s National Small Business Week, which runs Sunday, May 5 through Saturday May 11. This year’s events will include collaboration with the Virginia Regional Small Business Development Center’s New River Valley Small Business Advisor Cheryl Keen Tucker.

All events will be held at Pulaski on Main, 83 W. Main Street, in downtown Pulaski and are open to anyone doing business in and around the New River Valley. This year’s calendar of events includes:

Monday, May 6, 8:30 – 10:30 am                  Coffee with Council Members and Town of Pulaski Staff

Come by and meet with Council Members, Town Staff, and the Pulaski on Main team.

Tuesday, May 7, 8:30 – 10 am                        Sticky Figures: Small Business Financial Strategies

Cheryl Tucker, Virginia Small Business Development Center, and Theresa Turner, The Biz Doctor, will discuss financial strategies for your small business. This interactive session will help identify your points of interest or consternation and help you move forward with sound fiscal strategies.

Wednesday, May 8, 12 to 1:30 pm                Photography Pointers: Make Your Social Media POP!

Edmee Hasler, professional photographer, and Pulaski on Main Interim Director Catherine Van Noy will present tips and best practices for your social media photos.

Thursday, May 9, 5 – 6:30 pm                        Sticky Figures: Small Business Financial Strategies

Friday, May 10 , Noon                                      Drawing for Forever Plaid tickets

All attendees of the week’s session will have the opportunity to win four tickets to the New River Valley Regional Theatre’s May 10, 11 or 12 performances. Winners will be drawn on Friday, May 10 at noon.

The Town of Pulaski is also planning a formal resolution to recognize Small Business Week.

“National Small Business Week provides an opportunity to spotlight the importance of small businesses across America,” offered Catherine Van Noy, Interim Director for Pulaski on Main. “According to the Small Business Administration, 30 million small businesses create nearly two out of three net new jobs in our economy, we cannot resolve ourselves to create jobs and spur economic growth in America without discussing ways to support our entrepreneurs.”
