Falls Church woman dies in Montgomery County crash

On June 7, 2020, at 0605 am Montgomery County Sheriffs Office deputies along
with Christiansburg Rescue Squad and Christiansburg Fire Department responded
to a report of a single vehicle crash with entrapment in the 1500 block of Ellett Rd,
approximately 1 mile outside of Christiansburg. Upon arrival, they located a 2017
Nissan Rogue over a steep embankment into a tree.
The driver 24 year old Preston Conner Jones from Peterstown, WV was transported
by ambulance with serious injuries. Mr Jones was charged with Driving Under the
Influence.
The passenger 24 year old Mercedes Diane Scales from Falls Church, VA (formerly
from Christiansburg, VA) was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office
and New River Valley Regional Crash Investigation Team. Additional charges are
pending.
