Flash Flood Warning issued for our area until 5:15 pm

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Carroll County in southwestern Virginia...
  Northern Floyd County in southwestern Virginia...
  Southern Montgomery County in southwestern Virginia...
  Southeastern Pulaski County in southwestern Virginia...
  East Central Wythe County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 515 PM EDT.

* At 217 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Over 2 inches of rain have
  fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Doppler radar.

  IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
           drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Christiansburg, Indian Valley, Pilot, Allisonia, Shawsville,
  Patterson and Copper Hill.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Connellys Run, Calhoun Run, Big Indian Creek, Bonys Run, Big Reed
  Island Creek, Crab Creek, Big Macks Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Brush
  Creek and Beaver Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
