The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In Virginia, Bedford, Campbell, Carroll, Charlotte, Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Halifax, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke, and Wythe. * Through late tonight * Showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain will move into the watch area this afternoon and evening. One to three inches of rain could be possible in a very short period of time. * Heavy rain will result in areas of rapid flooding. Please monitor local radar trends and warnings this afternoon and evening. Rapid flooding of streams and creeks is possible, along with flooding of roads and poor drainage areas.
