Griffith Announces Town of Pulaski Selected for FederalLocal Foods, Local Places Program

Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) announced that the Town of Pulaski was selected to participate in the Federal Local Foods, Local Places program for 2019. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Northern Border Regional Commission. He issued the following statement:

“Pulaski’s selection for the Local Foods, Local Places program is a win not just for the town, but for the wider region. The program will aid Pulaski in the revitalization of its downtown while also supporting local agriculture. Participation in the Local Foods, Local Places program will make a meaningful contribution to the quality of life in Pulaski.”

Background

According to the Local Foods, Local Places program, Pulaski intends to use the program’s assistance to explore how various food access and healthy living programs can contribute to downtown revitalization. Pulaski is one of fifteen communities selected from more than 70 applicants.

Examples of projects supported by the Local Foods, Local Places program include farmers markets, food cooperatives, and business incubators.
