Griffith Statement on Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today issued the following statement in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine:
“I ask everyone to join me in praying for the people of Ukraine. I also condemn Vladimir Putin’s malicious and vicious unjust war against Ukraine. President Putin must be punished for these egregious actions. The United States can support Ukraine by sanctioning Russian industry and increasing our energy production here at home.
“President Biden needs to reverse his energy extraction-killing policies so that we can export more natural gas and oil to Europe. This will ensure that Germany and all of Europe will have sufficient fuel supplies. If our allies have adequate energy supplies, they can help us enforce sanctions against Russia for as long as is necessary to break the Russian economy.”

Please tell me how we export natural gas to Europe? And, assuming we can, how will exporting gas to Europe will affect supply and costs here? Many people in this congressional district have trouble adequately heating their homes. Please address these issues.

“energy extraction-killing policies by Biden?” Are you kidding me. All you do Griffith is criticize and complain about policies that don’t support your radical agenda. It’s like you had the answers to solve all our problems and yet you had 4 years at least under Trump to do something about it. You failed. We are better off for it.
When I was a geologist working in the oil and gas fields in the mid west, I witnessed many gas flares burning off natural wells for days to regulate the market. The night time was lit up like a Christmas tree. This has been going on regardless of who was running this country. Especially when Regan was in office. But it really doesn’t matter who is in office, the major oil companies run the energy supplies in this country. All you would be doing in your suggestion is helping the big oil companies raise the prices. But then again maybe that’s what you want so you would get more political donations from them.
So, get off your high horse, and quit winning. Either support our Democratic government completely or join your Putin republicans that support him and his war. You can’t have it both ways.
