Hackworth wins State Senate seat
Republican Travis Hackworth has won the race for the 38th State Senate District seat left vacant by the death Jan. 1 of Ben Chafin.
With all 106 precincts reporting in the district, final unofficial results show Hackworth has 17,943 votes (76%) to his Democratic challenger Laurie A. Buchwald’s 5,724 (24%).
In Pulaski County, with all 13 precincts reporting, Hackworth won by 3,062 (67%) to 1,528 votes (33%).
In Radford, Buchwald’s home, she won by only 137 votes – 1,069 to 932.
And in Hackworth’s home area, Tazewell County, he has won 5,422 votes to Buchwald’s 812.
Former Virginia House of Delegates Speaker, retired teacher, and candidate for Governor Kirk Cox congratulated Travis Hackworth tonight on his election to serve the 38 District in the Virginia Senate.
“Congratulations to Travis on his election to the Senate! He is a champion for conservative values, and I can think of no one better suited to fill the vacancy left by Ben Chafin. He is a good man and will serve the 38 District well. Southwest Virginians are fortunate to have him as their advocate.”
Hackworth is a businessman in Tazewell and a member of that county’s Board of Supervisors.

God Bless America🇱🇷 Great for the Republicans and Southwest Virginia!! Pro life, will stand up for our 2nd Right Adm., and Religious Freedom!! I hope he starts working on unverified mail in ballots in our elections. When you vote in person you got to show that you are who you say you are by identification. Work hard for us🇱🇷🇱🇷

Praise God for the election of Travis Hackworth! I think that, at least in Pulaski County, there are more conservatives who care about life and liberty, that those with more liberal views. I am thankful that we will have a representative who stands up for life before birth, and who will protect our other rights. Now, if we can just elect a truly conservative governor to replace our liberal, out-of-control governor, we will be doubly blessed! All thanks be to God for this victory. Now let us pray for Senator Hackworth!
