Inmate found dead at NRV Regional Jail
Superintendent Gregory P. Winston released the following statement Thursday on the death of an inmate at New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin.
On Thursday September 12, 2019, at approximately 7:50 am, while making routine security and well-being checks, jail officers discovered an 18-year-old Hispanic male unresponsive in his cell.
Security and medical staff immediately provided first aid and notified EMS to respond. EMS responded to the jail and administered first aid. The prisoner was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke.
The Virginia State Police is handling the investigation into the cause of death.
The prisoner was committed to jail on Wednesday September 11th, 2019 at 11:57 p.m. on a charge of Public Swearing or Intoxication in Public.

I take it, no surveillance camera in cells or?? Seems like the thing to have today for sure. Just like body cameras on Officers.
