On Tuesday night at Fort Chiswell High School the Varsity Boys Basketball Team avenged an earlier one point loss to Carroll County by defeating the Cavaliers 83-67. The Pioneers outscored CCHS 25-11 in the first period, 20-17 in the second, and 19-16 in the third. Carroll won the final stanza 23-19.
Owen Jackson paced the Pioneers with 41 points and 12 rebounds making it three games in a row posting a double-double. Jackson got off to a hot shooting night as he sank four three pointers on ten attempts. Landon Eversole also had a hot hand for the Fort as he finished the night going 3 for 8 from behind the arc while grabbing six rebounds and 12 over all points. Eli Eversole and Eli Armbrister also proved to be threats as they both added 8 points a piece to the box score while Kenton Sutphin controlled the Pioneer offense dishing out 9 assists.
The Cavaliers showed some fight in the third quarter as they opened up with a 11-0 run but the Pioneers always figured out how to bounce back and counter the late attack. Carroll was led by Iasiah Easter’s 25 points and he was aided by Colton Gravley with 13 and Blake Reed’s 11.
With the win, FC improves to 4 wins and 1 loss on the year with some tough road games ahead down in North Carolina next Monday and Tuesday.
